WACC provides a midday meal service (called Meals on Wheels) for their elderly or disabled members who find it difficult to make a hot meal for themselves or for a family member.

You are eligible for Meals on Wheels service provided you are
 
  • Frail and elderly person
  • Housebound due to ill health
  • Disabled which prevents you from shopping, preparing
    or cooking a hot meal
  • Recently discharged from hospital
  • In need of temperory help to relieve a carer

You may be referred to the Meals on Wheels service by       
 
  • Your GP
  • Community Pharmacist
  • Social Services
  • District Nurses
  • Nursing Home/Respite Care
  • Hospital Social Worker
  • Sheltered scheme Manager
  • Voluntary Sector Officer
  • A member of your Family/Friends
     

Meals are delivered      
 
  • To your door by one of our staff who will wear an identification badge
  • Between 1 p.m and 2 p.m.
  • The time of the delivery will be around the same time each week
 

How to pay for the meal?  
 
  • By cash or cheque on delivery at the door
  • The cost will be advised to you before starting the service
 
Are there any meal choices ?  
 
  • Vegetarian meal provided - For alternative choice of menu please contact us
  • The cost will be advised to you before starting the service
