WACC provides a midday meal service (called Meals on Wheels) for their elderly or disabled members who find it difficult to make a hot meal for themselves or for a family member.
You are eligible for Meals on Wheels service provided you are
Frail and elderly person
Housebound due to ill health
Disabled which prevents you from shopping, preparing
or cooking a hot meal
Recently discharged from hospital
In need of temperory help to relieve a carer
You may be referred to the Meals on Wheels service by
Your GP
Community Pharmacist
Social Services
District Nurses
Nursing Home/Respite Care
Hospital Social Worker
Sheltered scheme Manager
Voluntary Sector Officer
A member of your Family/Friends
Meals are delivered
To your door by one of our staff who will wear an identification badge
Between 1 p.m and 2 p.m.
The time of the delivery will be around the same time each week
How to pay for the meal?
By cash or cheque on delivery at the door
The cost will be advised to you before starting the service
